Dear Minister;

As a landowner and ratepayer in an unincorporated/unorganized township in Northern Ontario, I am very concerned about the new Ontario Provincial Land Tax scheduled for implementation in 2009.

I am disappointed at the lack of information and public consultation about this tax.

Here are the questions I would like answered…

  1. How much is the tax levy going to be and how will it be implemented?
  2. Where will these tax dollars be used and what services will we receive?
  3. How will this tax affect other taxes that we presently pay?

 

I respectfully recommend that you give further review and public consultation to this tax before it is implemented in 2009. I am sure you will recognize the unique situations that are indicative of the North.
